World Bank Treasury opens a route to analyst roles
Applications are open for the World Bank Treasury's 2027 Summer Internship. It will hire up to 17 paid interns for ten weeks in Washington, DC, from 1 June to 9 August 2027. Interns rotate through three Treasury teams, and the World Bank says it will sponsor the appropriate US visa when required.
Applicants must be in the second-to-last year of an undergraduate-equivalent programme and expect to graduate between December 2027 and September 2028. Strong applications should demonstrate quantitative work, financial analysis, market research or operational problem-solving.
The internship can lead to a Junior Analyst role after graduation. Treasury may extend offers to some successful interns, but the later selection is competitive.
UNICEF builds a three-year ECD consultant roster
UNICEF advertised a global roster of early childhood development specialists on 15 September. Applications close on 26 September. The roster will run from 2026 to 2029 and allow UNICEF offices to recruit pre-qualified consultants directly for short assignments. Most work will be home-based, with possible country travel.
The roster covers policy and financing, programme delivery, emergencies and disability inclusion, childcare, digital tools, parenting support and caregiver mental health. Applicants need a relevant advanced degree, at least eight years in international development and at least eight years of global-level ECD experience. They must also submit evidence for their chosen expertise, a proposed daily rate and three references.
GCF posts four climate consultancies
Four of the five roles on the Green Climate Fund's consultancy jobs page were posted during the week. They cover a publications copyediting and layout roster, liaison officers for Niger and Morocco, and an Africa private-sector investment analyst. Deadlines run from 28 September to 2 October.
Read the location details carefully. The Morocco liaison role is labelled remote in the portal, but requires an in-person presence in Rabat. It offers USD 261 per day for up to 180 working days over almost 12 months, with preference for Moroccan nationals or residents. The investment analyst role is based at GCF headquarters in Incheon and focuses on originating, reviewing and structuring private-sector climate investments across Africa.
This is a small, varied batch. Applicants need evidence matched to a specific delivery route: publication production, country coordination, proposal development or investment analysis.
ADB backs an ASEAN blue-economy pipeline
On 19 September, ADB launched the ASEAN Blue Economy Initiative, with plans to mobilise up to USD 6 billion through 2030. That amount forms part of ADB's earlier USD 30 billion pledge for ASEAN priorities.
The initiative covers fisheries, aquaculture, coastal resilience, port-linked value chains, marine-pollution control, circular-economy solutions, innovative finance and upstream water and waste systems. No recruitment round accompanied the announcement. The useful candidate signal is a multi-year pipeline: watch ADB project documents, executing agencies, consultancies and tenders for demand in marine science, coastal infrastructure, environmental safeguards, value-chain finance and monitoring.
Green industry moves into finance and project preparation
The World Bank Group backed industrial decarbonisation in Brazil with a USD 1 billion IBRD loan and a USD 60 million Clean Technology Fund loan, expected to mobilise another USD 1.8 billion. BNDES will channel finance into steel, cement, glass, chemicals and aluminium, low-carbon fuels, and shared hydrogen and ammonia infrastructure.
In Africa, the African Development Bank announced USD 20 million in reimbursable grants to prepare four green-hydrogen projects in Egypt, Morocco, Namibia and South Africa. The projects cover marine and aviation fuels and low-carbon iron, and represent an estimated USD 23 billion in investment. The grants remain subject to AfDB Board approval.
These announcements point to work around project preparation, engineering, safeguards, financial structuring and industrial value chains. Likely routes include BNDES, project sponsors, advisers, technical firms and the development banks.
What candidates should take from this week
Early-career finance candidates have a direct World Bank entry point, while senior ECD and climate specialists face near-term application deadlines. For the blue-economy and green-industry programmes, one should expect funded projects to reach procurement and implementation stages. Track sponsors, executing agencies and consultancy portals as closely as institutional careers pages.
